Country star Zach Bryan and Barstool Sports personality Brianna LaPaglia (aka Brianna Chickenfry) have ended their relationship, and the Boston native says she was “blindsided” by how the split unfolded on social media.

Bryan posted on his Instagram Story on Tuesday that the couple's relationship was over.

“Brianna and I have separated and I respect and love her with all my heart,” Bryan wrote. “She has loved me unconditionally for a very long time and I will always thank her for that.”

A short time later, LaPaglia posted her own Instagram Story and said she was “blindsided” by Bryan's announcement.

“Hey guys, I’m feeling really blindsided right now,” LaPaglia wrote. “I'm going to stay away from social media for a while and try to heal privately. When I’m ready, I’ll be back and ready to talk.”

Less than an hour after LaPaglia revealed she needed a break from social media to privately heal, she posted a four-minute YouTube video further discussing the breakup.

“I just woke up when Zach posted on his Instagram that we broke up,” LaPaglia said. “I had no idea this post would blow up. He didn’t text me, he didn’t call me.”

LaPaglia went on to say that the couple split on Monday and that their hopes for a private healing were dashed by Bryan sharing the news with the world.

“How can you give someone your whole self and then have it thrown away in a few days?” LaPaglia said. “It’s really, really heartbreaking.”

Zach Bryan and Bri LaPaglia's relationship timeline

Bryan and LaPaglia's split caps a turbulent relationship for the couple.

LaPaglia — who began hosting her own podcast for Barstool Sports in 2020 — first shared that she and Bryan were “hanging out” in July 2023, less than two months after Bryan ended his previous relationship.

In September 2023, the couple bought a dog, a yellow Labrador named Boston. As Bryan crisscrossed the country on his Quittin Time tour, LaPaglia was often there to support him.

When Bryan visited Gillette Stadium for a concert on June 26, he and LaPaglia were able to rest and relax after the show at a $7.5 million home in Duxbury that Bryan purchased in April.

Was Zach Bryan on the Raya dating app?

Before Bryan and LaPaglia announced their split, there was speculation on social media that their relationship was on the rocks.

Earlier this week, screenshots of a dating profile on the celebrity dating app Raya that allegedly belonged to Bryan surfaced on Reddit and TikTok.

Bryan didn't directly address Raya's profile in his story, but instead wrote that he's “not perfect” and that he's had an “incredibly hard year” while dealing with “some pretty serious things.”

“To all that I am and to everyone I have let down, I am sorry,” Bryan wrote. “I do my best in everything. I have let down people who love me and especially myself.”

For his part, Barstool Sports founder David Portnoy didn't let Bryan down when addressing the breakup, posting Taylor Swift's song “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived” on social media as a dedication to LaPaglia.
