Yankees fan gave ridiculous reason for taking ball out of Mookie Betts' glove

Yankees fan gave ridiculous reason for taking ball out of Mookie Betts' glove

The New York Yankees stayed in the World Series with an 11-4 win in Game 4 on Tuesday night. Although it was a big win for the team, one of the most memorable moments came not from one of their players, but from two fans who were ejected after pulling a foul ball out of Mookie Betts' glove.

In case you missed it, Betts made a nice catch in the first inning, reaching over the wall in foul territory in right field. Two fans quickly began grabbing Betts' glove and his other hand, eventually ripping the ball away from him.

ESPN met fans Austin Capobianco and John Peter after their ejection at a local bar and they gave a ridiculous reason for what they did.

“We always joke about the ball in our area,” said the 38-year-old Capobianco, who pulled the ball from Betts' glove. “We won’t bother attacking. If it is in our range, we will go up “D”. Someone defends, someone hits the ball. We talk about it. We are ready for this.” This.”

Capobianco had this to say to ESPN about his ouster:

“I know when I'm in the wrong, and as soon as I did, I was like, 'Guys, I'm out of here. I patrol the wall and they know it.”

Betts didn't want to talk too much about that bizarre moment after the game.

“When it comes to the person in the game, it doesn’t matter,” Betts said. “We lost. That is irrelevant. I'm doing well. He's fine. Everything is cool. We lost the game and that’s kind of what I’m focused on. We have to turn the tide and prepare for tomorrow.”

Game 5 is Wednesday night at Yankee Stadium. Capobianco, who has a season ticket, said he was told they were allowed to attend.
