Woman tries to sell baby on Facebook

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — A woman was at a hospital ready to adopt a newborn when she learned the mother was accused of trying to sell the baby on Facebook.

It may seem unconventional to connect on Facebook with a pregnant woman looking for adoptive parents for her unborn child, but Wendy Williams said she was adopted herself and would like to adopt another child and give them the chance they have has.

One thing she said that particularly stood out to me is that she respects Juniper Bryson for trying to give her child a better life than she was able to provide him. But then things changed.

“She made us believe we were chosen,” Williams said.

Williams and her husband were one of many families hoping to become parents to this beautiful baby boy, who was born Sept. 24, according to court documents. The only difference between Williams and the other families is that she was in the delivery room at 21 years old. old Juniper Bryson.

“She kept referring to him as my son,” Williams said. “So when the nurses asked them something, they said, I don’t know. Check with his mother.”

Williams didn't know Bryson. Neither do the other future parents. They just responded to Facebook posts asking for someone to adopt Bryson's baby.

She believes Bryson chose Williams because she was local and Bryson went into labor early. She stayed in the hospital for three days with Bryson and the newborn, who tested positive for drugs, according to court documents, but then Williams said she received messages on Facebook from people saying Bryson was trying to sell the baby. She confronted Bryson about it.

“‘Hey, what’s that? You know a lot of people send me these screenshots. What's going on?'” Williams said she asked Bryson. “Just then she asked the nurse to remove me from the room and I did. I was escorted downstairs with gifts that my family had brought to the hospital.”

Williams had already named the baby and signed the legal documents, but Bryson took everything back. After Williams found out what she had done, she contacted CPS and police were called.

Investigators obtained conversations with at least seven people on social media in which Bryson allegedly demanded money in exchange for the baby, including this conversation in which she said, “I would ask for at least $150 up front.”

Police arrested Bryson at the hospital on outstanding warrants. This week she was arrested for trying to sell the little boy. Williams has not been awarded custody, but she hopes to be his mother one day.

Bryson is being held in the Harris County Jail on a $30,000 bond.
