Will Travis Kelce return for a potential Grotesque Season 2? Find out who survived the season 1 finale

Warning: This post contains spoilers for the first season finale of grotesque.

As the first season of grotesque is coming to an end, as is Travis Kelce's scripted TV debut. But could we see his return if the Ryan Murphy series is renewed for a second season?

The October 30 final episode of the thriller series, in which Niecy Nash-Betts is plagued by a sick and perverted serial killer, gave fans some answers to their long-awaited questions. However, it ultimately ended with a major cliffhanger as the identity of the killer, known as Grotesquerie, was not revealed.

There were also very few deaths among the main cast, as Nash-Betts' Lois Tryon and Kelce's Ed Lachlan both escaped unscathed. Courtney B. Vance, Raven Goodwin, Micaela Diamond and Lesley Manville's characters also survived the finale.

Charlie (Nicholas Alexander Chavez), who was a priest in Lois's dreamscape but her doctor in real life, didn't make it out alive. He was among the final victims in the last episode, and Megan (Diamond) found him crucified and later called Lois over to help her. One of Marshall's (Vance) students who had accused him of sexual assault was also among the victims along with Charlie.

Given that Kelce's character – among others – survived the season finale, there's a distinct possibility that if grotesque has been extended for a second season, the 35-year-old Kansas City Chiefs tight end will reprise his role.

In the final episode, Kelce's character Ed got rid of the mullet that shocked fans in episode 7 – when it was revealed that Lois had been in a coma the whole time and the entire plot of the series was taking place in her head – and he reported himself to Marshall is supposed to join a men's rights group with him.

A possible second season would require Ed's relationships to be resolved after it was revealed that he cheated on his wife Merritt (Goodwin) with Lois, Merritt's mother.

In an interview with Deadline following the season 1 finale, Nash-Betts, 54, said there was “absolutely” more story to tell as she thought about what questions needed to be answered in the second season.

“There are still a few questions I'm waiting to answer, and if everything is perfect, we would have a second season to unpack them,” she told the outlet. “If not, that means I'll be sitting at dinner with Ryan for hours telling me where he's going with this story.”

Apparently the “big unanswered question” remains who Grotesquerie is. “Right now the doctor in therapy says that grotesqueness is an amalgamation of all the evils that have happened in the world in (Lois's) mind, but then these crimes literally start to happen. So wait a moment. And then what? Does that mean?”
