“The company has been through so much over the last 17 years – ups, downs, restructuring… it's been quite a journey,” she added.

“In conclusion, I can say that we are profitable, which I am very proud of, because it is not an easy industry and it is becoming more and more difficult.”

The designer described a point in the branding process that was “all fire,” and where she and her team put out fires “every day.”

However, she described the introduction of Victoria Beckham's fragrances as a turning point.

“I think when I created the fragrance we transformed from a brand into a house. I spent years laying the foundations. Now I can start building the actual house.

“A friend was talking to one of the kids recently and they said I was a construction worker. And that’s me.”

A new documentary about Victoria's journey from Spice Girl to fashion designer is in production at Netflix, following the success of the streaming giant's series about her husband, which launched earlier this year.

She said it wouldn't be “as personal” as in the previous series, in which Victoria claimed she grew up “working class”, but an overhearing David forced her to reveal that her father owned a Rolls-Royce.

“David was in the next room looking at the monitor, then he poked his head through the door. “There was no rehearsal,” she insisted. “Like dancing in the tent. None of it was rehearsed.”
