A new season of Chicago Fire returns tonight and the first episode of season 13 promises plenty of action as a new fire chief causes excitement at Firehouse 51. Read on to find out when Chicago Fire Season 13 airs on NBC and what to expect from the premiere.

Season 13 picks up after the bittersweet finale of Season 12, which saw Chief Boden step down as fire chief to take on the role of deputy chief of the CFD. Firehouse 51 must now adjust to its new leader, Fire Chief Dom Pascal, played by Dermot Mulroney.

Showrunner Andrea Newman revealed to TVInsider that firefighters will be curious to learn more about Fire Chief Pascal, especially Lt. Christopher Herrmann (David Eigenberg), the experienced firefighter who would have been Boden's preferred successor.

“All of our boys will react to him differently and there will be surprises as to who bonds with Pascal and who doesn't,” Newman said. She also noted that “there's a lot of drama in Pascal's marriage.” KaDee Strickland will play his wife Monica in the series.

Most of the season 12 cast of Chicago Fire will return for season 13, including Taylor Kinney (Kelly Severide), Miranda Rae Mayo (Stella Kidd), Eigenberg (Christopher Herrmann), Christian Stolte (Randall “Mouch” McHolland), Joe Minoso (Joe Cruz), and others. Jocelyn Hudon was also promoted to series regular this season after replacing Kara Killmer (Sylvie Brett) in season 12.

Chicago Fire Season 13 premieres on Wednesday, September 25 at 9 p.m. ET on NBC. New episodes also stream the next day on Peacock (Thursdays).

For the rest of the One Chicago universe: Chicago Med will air at 8 p.m. ET, while Chicago Police will end the evening at 10:00 p.m. ET.

Chicago Fire airs every Wednesday at 9 p.m. ET on NBC. Those without a cable subscription can watch NBC on live TV streaming services such as Hulu+ Live TV, DirecTV Stream, YouTube TV, fuboTV and SlingTV; all of which currently offer free trials.

How to watch Chicago Fire Season 13 streaming

New episodes of Chicago Fire streams the next day (Thursdays) on Peacock. To watch season 13 and previous seasons, you must have a Peacock subscription.

Peacock's Premium monthly plan costs $7.99 per month, while the Premium Plus plan costs $13.99 per month. The site is currently offering an annual membership deal where you get 12 months for the price of 10. Unfortunately, Peacock does not currently offer a free trial.
