What Travis Hunter said after Colorado's win over Cincinnati

Travis Hunter continues to turn heads for the Colorado Buffaloes, posting his best receiving game of the season with an outstanding performance of nine receptions for 153 yards and two touchdowns in a 34-23 win over Cincinnati. His outstanding play led to him being featured on ESPN's SportsCenter, where he provided insight into his performance, his connection to quarterback Shedeur Sanders and the Buffaloes' scoring efforts as they progressed through the Big 12 season.

When asked about his relationship with Shedeur Sanders on the field, Hunter emphasized the strong bond they have developed since their time together at Jackson State under coach Deion Sanders. “We just made this connection,” Hunter explained. “I went to Jackson State, we’ve been working for three years. We already know what we need to do and that's what we do. We're trying to win something big.” Their synergy has become one of Colorado's greatest assets, as the pair's familiarity allows them to read and anticipate each other's moves, increasing the Buffaloes' offensive threat.

Hunter also spoke about the dedication required to meet the unique demands of playing both cornerback and receiver. His commitment is clear: “I just go in and keep my head down. I wake up at 5 a.m. and I'm the first one here and the last one to leave.” This rigorous schedule, combined with the support of his coaches, allows Hunter to shine on both sides of the ball, a rarity in the modern era College football. He expressed gratitude for the role of his coaches in his development and acknowledged their help as essential to his preparation.

Looking ahead, Hunter emphasized that the team is focused on taking it one game at a time. “Our motto is to win 1-0 every week,” he shared. “Just keep your head down for the next game and put this game behind us.” That disciplined approach has been central to the Buffaloes' success as they look to maintain momentum in the Big 12 race.

With this win over Cincinnati, Deion Sanders and the Buffaloes became bowl eligible for the first time since 2016, marking another milestone in Coach Prime's transformative era in Colorado. As they headed into the midst of conference competition, Hunter emphasized the need to “continue to play Colorado football” and show confidence in their identity as a team. The Buffaloes, led by Hunter's remarkable two-way play and the leadership of Sanders, have set their sights on continued success and are aiming big in a season already filled with impressive accomplishments.
