What Madison voters need to know

What Madison voters need to know

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – Nearly a thousand people are expected to flock to libraries, churches and community centers across the state on October 22 to vote early.

In the City of Madison, voters can cast their vote early at any of the designated absentee voting locations. These locations may differ from your Election Day-specific polling place. The opening times also vary at each location.

“You don’t have to go to a specific location for in-person absentee voting,” said Jim Verbick, assistant city clerk for the city of Madison. “As long as you’re a voter in the city of Madison, you can go to any of them in the city.”

Verbick said online voter registration is closed for now, but people can register to vote at early voting sites through Nov. 1. To vote, you must provide proof of Wisconsin residency and ID. ID types may include a Wisconsin driver's license, military or tribal ID. After early voting ends on November 3rd, people can register to vote on Election Day at their designated polling place.

Verbick said people can also drop off absentee ballots that have not yet been mailed at in-person early voting locations.

A list of early voting locations and their respective hours of operation for the City of Madison can be found here.
