Indiana was supposed to have its first real test against Nebraska last week. If the 56-7 win over the Cornhuskers still counts as a test, the Hoosiers deserve an A+++. The Hoosiers didn't allow a single shot all day, racked up nearly 500 yards of total offense and then turned five takeaways into 28 points.

Still, it didn't come without a cost, as QB Kurtis Rourke suffered a thumb injury and will miss Saturday's game (he's on track to return next week at Michigan State). Tayven Jackson, the younger brother of former Indiana basketball star and current Golden State Warriors Trayce Jackson-Davis, is the next man up and Curt Cignetti has confidence in him and has said so publicly. That's different, though: being the guy who starts the game with all the hype College game day be in the city.

Washington is coming off a bye week, which may ease the travel disadvantage faced by Big Ten teams ranked 5-11 as they travel across multiple time zones.

The Huskies rank No. 1 in opponent passing yards per game (127.2) and No. 4 in opponent yards per pass (5.1) and completion percentage (50.33%).

With the Huskies just 4-3, this seems like a game Indiana should win, and they should, but Washington is a step further in with the remnants of a College Football Playoff finalist last year Class. During his three seasons in Arizona, Jedd Fisch was 16-9 ATS as an outside hitter and will have this group ready to play.

College Football Week 9 Best Bet: Washington +6.5

Perhaps no team in FBS has fared better to start the season than BYU.

They won at SMU when the Mustangs were in the middle of a QB change. They were outgained by Kansas State by 126 yards and still won 38-9 due to a +3 turnover margin. The stats even project a 41-19 win over Arizona, but the Cougars were once again +3 in turnover margin. The turnover decline began last week against Oklahoma State, where BYU won in the final seconds despite committing three turnovers of their own

In this win over the Cowboys, BYU allowed 269 yards on the ground at a clip of 7.3 yards per carry. That's bad news against a UCF team that racked up 354 yards on the ground (9.1 YPC) at Iowa State, where the Knights lost in the final minute.

QB Jacurri Brown has proven to be the best addition to Gus Malzahn's offense after the Knights attempted to trade KJ Jefferson and rookie EJ Colson to Arkansas.

UCF seemed to have given up against Colorado four weeks ago, but now they seem to have some life and energy back. They need this win to get their season back on track, and that's exactly what they should do against an overrated BYU team.

College Football Week 9 Best Bet: UCF -130 ML

In the Sunflower Showdown, one team is off to a rough start: Kansas, 2-5, travels to Manhattan to face a 6-1 Kansas State club that has rattled off two straight Big XII victories in Colorado and West Virginia.

The Jayhawks have lost four games this season by one margin:

L in Illinois at 6am
L vs. UNLV at 3
L in West Virginia at 4
L at Arizona State by 4

Kansas took out some of its early-season frustration against Houston last week, winning by 28 points. It featured its best offensive performance of the season (aside from the opener against FCS Lindenwood).

Now K-State has a home game for the first time in a month and the Wildcats are looking for their 16th straight win over their in-state rival.

Kansas State ranks 118th in opponent passing yards per game (275.7). Admittedly, these numbers are partly due to opponents trailing against the Wildcats, but Kansas can make big plays in the passing game and is able to stay within these numbers the entire time.

College Football Week 9 Best Bet: Kansas +10

THE BEST OF THE REST
Akron +3 vs. Eastern Michigan
UL Monroe +7 at South Alabama
Arizona -175 ML vs. West Virginia
Michigan State +5 at Michigan
Wisconsin +7 (-120) vs. Penn State
