After back-to-back losses by at least 26 points, Oklahoma football returns to action in Week 9 with a road trip at No. 18 Ole Miss on Saturday.

The Sooners' offense relies on sophomore quarterback Jackson Arnold, the former five-star recruit who began the year as a starter before being subbed in for true freshman Michael Hawkins Jr. in the loss to Tennessee. Hawkins Jr. committed three turnovers against South Carolina – two of which led to touchdowns – opening the door for Arnold.

Oklahoma will also be without former offensive coordinator Seth Littrell, who was fired following the Sooners' loss to the Gamecocks. He will be replaced on an interim basis by co-offensive coordinator Joe Jon Finley, who will determine the assignments against the Rebels.

Oklahoma has had one of the worst offenses in college football this season, while Ole Miss' defense ranks second nationally in average points allowed (10.57) this season. OU's defense will also have its hands full with quarterback Jaxson Dart, who leads the SEC with 2,834 passing yards this season.

Ryan Aber, The Oklahoman: Ole Miss 31, Oklahoma 10

“The Sooners' offense is struggling again as the losing streak extends to three – just the second three-game losing streak in 25 seasons. OU's defense holds up well for a while before the Rebels wear them down. The Sooners' offense is once again struggling to move the ball.”

Jenni Carlson, The Oklahoman: Ole Miss 31, Oklahoma 20

OU's retooling offense is showing signs of life, but Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart is another reminder of what could have been. A few years ago it was called Dart or Dillon Gabriel.
