Georgia football fullback Chaz Chambliss looked at the recent history of the Bulldogs' defense as he prepared to face Florida and freshman quarterback DJ Lagway on Saturday in Jacksonville.

“We’ve had problems using quarterbacks in the past,” he said. “We have to prepare and know what’s coming.”

Alabama's Jalen Milroe threw for 374 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 117 yards and two more scores against Georgia in a 41-34 Bulldogs loss. Mississippi State's Michael Van Buren, who can extend plays with his legs, scored .306 and three touchdowns and wasn't sacked in a 41-31 win at Georgia.

Lagway, who has made two starts this season, has four runs of 10 or more yards this season, with a season-high 22, according to cfbstats.com.

“As an athlete that he is, you really have to stay covered because he can start anything and endure anything while running,” assured Malaki Starks. “You have to be really disciplined in your hustle and your reporting.”

Lagway threw for 259 yards on 7 of 14 passing with one interception in a 48-20 win over Kentucky on Oct. 19 in the Gators' last game.

“He has great size,” coach Kirby Smart said. “He has great arm strength. He has really good pocket mobility. He has a great offense around him. They do a good job running the ball and setting up shots on the run. If you're persistent about playing it, you're open to lots of playful action shots.”

Freshman Jaden Baugh rushed for 106 yards and five touchdowns on 22 carries against Kentucky.

Georgia held Texas to just 259 yards of total offense in its 30-15 win over then-No. 1 Texas last game, but the Bulldogs still rank just sixth in the SEC in total defense at 304.9 yards per game.
