The first results of the US presidential election are expected today after polls closed in most regions.

The United Nations General Assembly is also expected to meet today after Israel formally announced its decision to cut ties with the UN agency for Palestinian refugees.

Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah was today summoned for questioning in connection with the MUDA site allotment case.

Foreign Minister Vikram Misri is expected to brief the parliamentary panel on foreign affairs related to India-Canada relations.

Prince William will open the fourth annual Earthshot Prize ceremony in Cape Town.

Kamala Harris vs. Donald Trump

Americans cast their votes on Tuesday, November 5, to elect the country's next president in what is expected to be a closely contested election. The first polling stations closed on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. EST (4:30 a.m. IST, Wednesday), and the last ones closed at 1:00 a.m. EST (11:30 a.m. IST, Wednesday).

In previous elections, some results were announced late on election night or early the next morning, so final results are expected today, although it could take weeks for a full count.

Georgia will likely be the first state to be called, as all early votes must be counted by 8:00 p.m. ET.

UNGA meeting after Israel's UNRWA ban

The United Nations General Assembly is expected to meet today after Israel formally informed the United Nations of its decision to cut ties with the UN Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).

Israel announced on Monday that it had terminated the agreement supporting UNRWA's work in Gaza, where the organization is the main aid donor. In particular, Jerusalem has accused UNRWA of being influenced by Hamas.

Siddaramaiah is to be questioned

The Karnataka Lokayukta Police today summoned Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for questioning in the MUDA land allotment case, PTI reported on Monday citing sources.

In particular, the CM of Karnataka is accused of irregularities in the allotment of 14 plots of land by the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) to his wife.

Important panel briefed on India-Canada relations

Foreign Minister Vikram Misri is expected to brief the Parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee today on the latest tensions in India-Canada relations.

The tensions arose after Canadian authorities accused Indian officials of involvement in the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar.

Telangana begins caste census

Telangana will begin the comprehensive caste census today, becoming the second Congress-ruled state after Karnataka to conduct such a survey.

The survey will run until November 30 and aims to collect detailed social, economic, educational, income, political and caste information across communities.

Swiggy's IPO opens today

Food delivery and quick commerce leader Swiggy will launch its initial public offering (IPO) today, seeking a valuation of around $11.3 billion.

The Bengaluru-based company aims to raise Rs 11,327 crore through the IPO, including a fresh issue of shares worth Rs 4,499 crore.
