Urías and Westburg in today's Orioles lineup

Urías and Westburg in today's Orioles lineup

The Orioles will try again today to secure a playoff spot. To do so, they need a win over the Tigers and a loss for the Mariners in Texas. That's all they need.

Since Seattle's game starts an hour later, the Orioles may have to stay in the stadium longer.

Infielders Ramón Urías and Jordan Westburg were activated from the injured list today after completing their rehab assignments at Triple-A Norfolk. They were taken out of the Tides' game in the fifth inning last night.

Outfielder Daniel Johnson and infielder Livan Soto were sent to Norfolk.

Urías and Westburg were injured exactly one month apart. Westburg suffered a fracture of his right hand on July 31 and Urías sprained his right ankle on August 31.

Both players hit a home run during their rehab sessions.

Westburg will play second base and bat second today, and Urías will play third base and bat eighth against Tigers left-hander Tyler Holton.

“We're excited for a lot of reasons,” said third base coach/infield coach Tony Mansolino. “They're a part of it. When we started the season in spring training, they were part of this team, part of the first-half team that won so many games. So it's a good feeling any time you have those guys back.”

Heston Kjerstad is the designated hitter. Cedric Mullins is in center field and bats ninth.

Albert Suárez has been inconsistent lately, allowing two runs in seven innings in Colorado, six runs and eight hits in 4 1/3 innings against the White Sox, one run in six innings in Boston and four runs in 3 1/3 innings against the Giants.

Suárez has never played against the Tigers.

Holton started Friday and pitched one inning, allowing two runs and two hits. Anthony Santander hit a two-run homer.
