UEFA Europa League result: Ange Postecoglou's young team wins thanks to goals from Pape Sarr and substitute Brennan Johnson

JOHNSON GOES ON GOAL AGAIN AS SPURS WIN AGAIN IN EUROPE

Substitute Brennan Johnson continued his recent winning streak as Tottenham maintained their perfect start to life in the UEFA Europa League with a 2-1 win at Ferencvaros.

Ange Postecoglou named four teenagers in his starting XI in a much-changed side that beat Manchester United in the Premier League at the weekend.

It looked like it was going to backfire early on as the Hungarian team dominated and a goal from Barnabas Varga was ruled out for offside.

Spurs took full advantage of the reprieve and Pape Sarr scored the decisive point in the 23rd minute when he fired the ball into the goal after a mix-up in the home team's defense.

Guglielmo Vicario made a great fingertip stop to deny Matheus Saldanha after the restart, while Timo Werner and 19-year-old debutant Will Lankshear went close at the other end.

Spurs finally scored their second goal when Johnson fired a low shot into the corner with four minutes remaining, making it five goals in his last five appearances.

Varga then ensured a nervy finale with a superb volley at the near post, but the visitors held on and took two wins from two in the European Cup.

Tottenham will now look to maintain their current momentum when they visit Brighton in the Premier League on Sunday.
