Tracking the likelihood of isolated rain ahead of a drier midweek

Tracking the likelihood of isolated rain ahead of a drier midweek

TODAY: Cloudy and drizzly weather will prevail this morning, with clouds and scattered showers continuing into the day. There may be just enough instability this afternoon and evening to cause a clap or two of thunder. Expect highs in the 70s with a light northwest breeze.

TONIGHT: Skies may break up a bit tonight, but will remain partly to mostly cloudy through the morning. Temperatures will fall to 10 degrees, however, as rain and low clouds that have provided better insulation until now will have disappeared.

EXTENDED: Wednesday will be partly cloudy and warmer, with highs in the 70s to 80s. Clouds return Thursday, and showers will be possible Thursday night as an area of low pressure aloft pulls today's moisture and likely the remnants of a tropical system from the Gulf back into the region for the weekend. This keeps rain chances in the forecast Friday through Monday. It won't rain every day, but our chances are best Friday and Saturday, with lower chances Sunday and Monday. Temperatures are expected to be cool, around 70 degrees, with plenty of cloud cover.
