ForbesToday's NYT “Connections” tips and answers for Wednesday, October 16th

Hey, gang! I hope you've had a wonderful week so far. I've been looking into rowing machines since the gym in my building doesn't have one, and I've enjoyed using them in the past – definitely more than other gym equipment. I'm about to take the plunge, so I might spend many a winter night working out at home while watching movies.

Today NYT Connections Hints and answers are coming soon.

How to play connections

Connections is a free, popular one New York Times daily pun. You will receive a new puzzle every day at midnight. You can play on that NYT Website or gaming app.

You will be presented with a grid of 16 words. Your task is to divide them into four groups of four by figuring out the connections between them. The groups can be items you can click on, names of research participants, or words preceded by a body part.

Each puzzle has only one solution and you need to be careful when it comes to words that could fit into more than one category. You can mix up the words to perhaps better see the connections between them.

Each group is color coded. The yellow group is usually the easiest to understand, blue and green are in the middle, and the purple group is usually the most difficult. The purple group often contains puns.

Select four words that you think go together and click Send. If you guess and are wrong, you lose a life. When you're close to finding the right group, you may see a message saying you're one word away from the right group, but you still need to figure out which word to swap.

If you make four mistakes, the game is over. Let's make sure that this doesn't happen with the help of some tips, and if you really find it difficult, even with today's ones Connections Answer. Like with Wordle and other similar games, it's easy to share results with your friends on social media and group chats.

This is your final warning!

Today Connections Answers are…

  • Yellow group – lawn area (GREEN, LAWN, PARK, YARD)
  • Green group – edit (ADDRESS, ANSWER, FIELD, HANDLE)
  • Blue Group – Films without “S” (CAR, GOODFELLA, JAW, SWINGER)
  • Purple Group – ____ Law (CRIMINAL, HARVARD, LEMON, NATURAL)

A perfect game got me back on the winning track. This is what happened to me:

I recognized the blues immediately when I spotted GOODFELLA while seeing HANDLE and ANSWER side by side, which made the greens clear enough. From then on it was academic as the yellow tones were pretty obvious. But I submitted the purple group before the yellow one, just because I could.

I don't think I've ever heard of “lemon law” before, so I'm glad I went through things in the order I did.

That's all for today Connections Hints and answers. Be sure to check out my blog for tips and the walkthrough for Friday's game if you need them.

PS: Let's do a double recommendation just because I drafted the second recommendation before playing today's game and noticed that JAWS was one of the words. It's horror movie season, after all, and Jaw is an important one:

I'm a big fan of Poppy, who broke out as a YouTube performance artist and has grown into a great musician. Your 2020 album I disagree has firmly established her as a serious, genre-bending artist. It was a wild transition into a mix of metal and pop that shouldn't have worked, but did spectacularly. She came long a far cry from “lowlife.” It's now clearer than ever that Poppy has one foot firmly in metal/rock and the other firmly in pop.

This week, the Grammy nominee released a new synthpop song called “Crystallized” that I can't get out of my head. All four tracks Poppy has released so far from her new album are great and I can't wait to hear the whole thing next month. Negative spaces could well turn out to be their best record yet:
