Yellow Answers: Revealed and Explained

KNUCKLEHEAD

DING-DONG

DODO

YAHOO

Yo-yo

I don't know if I've actually heard of it one of those words used to describe a personat least not for quite some time. I remember YAHOO meaning something like that in my distant memory, but I didn't think of that when I looked at this category. In fact, I thought that YAHOO probably forms a category with a few words other than phrases that express joy. Maybe I should have checked to see if these words had a different meaning, but I didn't, which ended my puzzle today on a more unhappy note.

Green Answers: Revealed and Explained

AUTO ONOMATOPEOIA

BEEP BEEP

PURR

SKRRT

VROOM

I had a strong suspicion that this was one of the categories especially when VROOM and BEEP BEEP are included in the word list. PURR and SKRRT were not words I would normally have associated with cars, although I have actually heard PURR used to describe engine noise. SKRRT has never been one I've used, but it makes sense to check it out after the puzzle was solved. And it belongs here at least more than any other category, and it was the word that I couldn't figure out where it belonged for most of the puzzle.

Blue Answers: Revealed and Explained

Laughter sounds

HAR-HAR

JOHLING

WHOOP

YUK

I thought sounds of joy would probably be a category, but it turns out it was based more on a specific type of joy. I thought HAR-HAR was laughter, but I didn't originally think of the other words specifically that way. YUK is not a word I would normally associate with laughterbut now I remember it's pretty similar to the sound Goofy makes when he laughs, so that might be where it came from. I also had YAHOO with HOOT and WHOOP, which made solving the problem a little more difficult.

Purple Answers: Revealed and Explained

Famous Primates

Blow

GEORGE

KING KONG

KOKO

This was the “hardest” category today, but it was the category I solved first and had very few problems with. There aren't many names in this puzzle, and even if I hadn't I originally assumed they were all primatesI was able to get all the names. Originally I thought they were cartoon characters, especially KOKO, and I had DODO with me at the time. I swapped that for BUBBLES after a wrong guess, and luckily that was correct.
