Today is the last day to register to vote in the 2024 presidential election in Virginia

Today, October 15, is the last day to register to vote regularly in the 2024 presidential election.

But don't worry – you can vote even if you're not registered. It's just going to be a different process for it.

Even if you're not registered to vote, starting October 16, you can register and vote on the same day – even on Election Day. If you choose this route, you will be voting on a provisional ballot rather than a regular ballot.

Here are the upcoming key dates for the election cycle:

  • Oct 15 – Deadline for registering to vote and regular voting
  • Oct 16 – Registration begins on the same day. Anyone who registers and votes at the same time must cast a provisional ballot.
  • Oct 25 – Last day to request an absentee ballot by mail or online
  • November 2nd – Last day of early voting
  • November 5th – ELECTION DAY
  • November 8th – All ballots sent by mail must be received at the registry office by 12:00 p.m.
  • November 15th – Deadline for confirmation of provisional ballots by the local election board
  • Dec 2nd – The State Board of Elections certifies the results.
  • Dec 17 – The Electoral College meets to vote for the President and Vice President.
