On the surface, Unhinged seems to be a pretty forgettable thriller, and while I can't deny that it's hardly a milestone in the genre, it holds a very special memory for me. It was the first major theatrical release following the forced closure of cinemas around the world due to the global pandemic, and it felt very liberating to see it on the big screen this summer.

Now, more than four years later, the Russell Crowe film has mostly faded from my memory, but it is currently enjoying a resurgence in popularity on Netflix US and has just cracked the streaming service's top 10 list. It's now shot straight to No. 3, behind only “Bad Boys: Ride or Die” and the new romantic drama “Lonely Planet,” and it could reach No. 1.
