The Yankees have reportedly made a decision about manager Aaron Boone's future following the team's devastating World Series loss to the Dodgers.

LA clinched the five-game series on Wednesday night by rallying from a 5-0 deficit to win 7-6 in front of their home fans in New York.

And although Boone has been the subject of criticism during this series, he is expected to serve as the team's manager again next year, according to SNY.

The site noted that the Yankees have a contract option for Boone next year, so an extension could follow this offseason to keep Boone from being a lame duck.

Additionally, the report states that Boone would likely need to win at least two rounds in the postseason before the postseason to keep his job.

Boone was widely criticized for his decision to use Nestor Cortes in Game 1 of the World Series

He did, of course, as the Yankees captured the American League pennant before losing to the Dodgers.

While Boone's star player Aaron Judge hit just .222 in the World Series (and an even worse .184 in the postseason overall), the manager came under fire for his decision to face Nestor Cortes in the 10th inning of a high-leverage game 1 .

With the Yankees leading 3-2 and needing just two outs to win, Boone turned to Cortes on the mound, even though he hadn't pitched since September 18th.

The move quickly backfired when Cortes allowed a walk-off grand slam to Freddie Freeman.

According to SNY, the decision to bring Cortes into this game was viewed within the Yankees organization as “a close call that could have gone either way.”

This postseason represented Boone's best finish in his seven years as Yankees manager, but he will look to help the Bronx Bombers go one step further next season.
