The two stars of the Miami Heat are struggling with a clear defeat against the Orlando Magic

Although it's only one game out of 82, it's hard to ignore the similar signs from last season where the Miami Heat's offense underperformed.

Jimmy Butler finished the game with three points, four rebounds and five assists on 12.5 percent shooting from the field and missed both of his three-point attempts.

Bam Adebayo had nine points, five rebounds and one assist on 20 percent shooting from the field. He also missed his two three-point attempts.

The Heat's two stars had problems from the start. Adebayo didn't make a single shot in the first half other than free throw attempts. He fumbled the ball in the paint several times and had difficulty scoring beyond the size of the Orlando Magic. Even more concerning was that Adebayo only had three field goal attempts at halftime. He wasn't assertive enough when necessary.

Butler was worse. The highlight of the night was a fast break where Tyler Herro threw an alley-oop to Butler for an exciting dunk. It was his only shot. He missed several layups. It was concerning after a season in which he averaged 7.7 free throws. He only had two attempts in the opener.

The Stars' performances felt eerily similar to last season, when both players went through the motions for several games in which they weren't fully engaged. The Magic's two stars, Franz Wagner and Paolo Banchero, were committed and completed 24 of 40 shots from the field.
