'The season is on the line,' Aaron Rodgers and the Jets overcome 'terrible' first half in win over Texans

It looked like the Jets were headed for their sixth straight loss on Thursday night. The errors increased. Malachi Corley's stupid ball throw before crossing the goal line negated a touchdown. A rough hit on the kicker penalty gave the Texans new life. Failures caused problems for the defense. And once again, there was a lot of bad punishment in New York.

“I mean, I was terrible,” Rodgers said of his first half. “We had a touchdown called…you know, taken off the board, stupid play. But I feel like the energy was good at halftime. We had the chance to collect them there. Morgan (Moses) gave a little speech: That was good. We all agreed that we would isolate at halftime. And we just knew, let's go out and score every possession.

Rodgers managed his first three-TD game of the season as the offense finally woke up, thanks in large part to a ridiculous grab by Garrett Wilson.

The win was the first for interim coach Jeff Ulbrich and moved the Jets to 3-6. With only one of their last eight games coming against a team currently over .500, the win kept the Jets' season alive in a disarrayed AFC. Now a team that disappointed for most of 2024 has a chance to rewrite its season.

“After three weeks of adversity and setbacks, some of which were self-inflicted, I was proud of her,” said Ulbrich.
