That bites!

The final chapter of Tom Hardy's “Venom” trilogy ended Friday with first-day grosses of $22 million — more than enough to take it to No. 1, according to The Numbers.

The threequel's first-day success likely means it will fall short of the $70 million that insiders had predicted for its opening weekend.

The film series is about a symbiotic alien that enters the body of Hardy's character as a San Francisco newspaper columnist and consumes human brains to stay alive.

The original 2018 film “Venom” grossed $32 million on its first day, while 2021's “Venom: Let There Be Carnage” grossed $37 million on its opening day.

“Smile 2,” the psychological thriller starring Jack Nicholson's son Ray, fell one notch to No. 2 and brought in another $3.03 million.

“Conclave,” a drama about the appointment of a new pope, followed in third place with first-day sales of $2.5 million.

“We Live in Time” placed fourth in its second week in theaters, its debut at the box office, grossing just over $1.9 million.

The romantic drama, starring Andrew Garfield and Florence Pugh, was harshly criticized by some critics: The Huffington Post called it “frustrating” and Mashable called it the “biggest box office disappointment of the year.”

“The Wild Robot” held its own at number 5 and grossed $1.8 million on its fourth Friday.
