Indianapolis Colts quarterback Joe Flacco (15) gets into position during the fourth quarter against the Tennessee Titans at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee, Sunday, October 13, 2024.

As for the New York Jets, all eyes are on the Houston Texans.

The Jets (2-6) next face the Texans (6-2) in an AFC matchup in Week 9.

But shortly thereafter, in Week 10, the Indianapolis Colts (4-4) will host the Jets.

They are not led by Anthony Richardson at quarterback.

According to Colts Wire, Indy will bench Anthony Richardson in favor of veteran backup Joe Flacco.

Flacco will now make his third start of the season on Sunday night, playing against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 9. It is possible that the 39-year-old Flacco will still be the focus in the following weeks after the update.

On the surface, the news is surprising.

It's not below that. Flacco has played well in his previous starts this year. He is 1-1 overall in 2024.

However, there was a problem for the Colts and Richardson last week.

In a close AFC South race, Indianapolis lost 23-20 last week to the Houston Texans, who lead their division. Richardson played poorly in the game and out of nowhere decided to pull out of the game. He later admitted that he was simply “tired” and needed a break.

That's unheard of for a starting quarterback in the NFL. The headlines that followed were predictably bad for the team and the QB, and now Flacco will get the nod.

Things could change after week 9. Until then, Jets Wire will provide updates as information becomes available.
