The Dodgers arrive in LA on the Patriots team plane

The Dodgers arrive in LA on the Patriots team plane

The Los Angeles Dodgers returned home as 2024 World Series champions on Thursday morning.

SkyFOX captured the arrival of the Boys in Blue, their friends and family as they landed on a United 777 plane at Los Angeles International Airport around 8 a.m.

All eyes were on those exiting the plane after the Dodgers defeated the New York Yankees in five games to clinch the title with a 7-6 victory in the Bronx.

But a second plane that arrived shortly after the first caused a lot of talk.

It was a New England Patriots plane that landed not long after, raising questions online.

“Boston didn't make the series this year, so they loaned the Dodgers the Patriots' team plane for their trip home,” someone said on X.

The United plane was reportedly carrying friends and family members, while the Patriots plane was for team members. Shortly after the locker room doors opened, Mookie Betts and Shohei Ohtani were seen descending the stairs, followed by Walker Buehler, who was carrying the championship trophy.

“The rivalry between Boston and New York is real. The Yankees lose and the Patriots send their plane to take the Dodgers home to LA,” another chimed in to X.

“The Patriots rented out the planes whenever the team wasn't using them,” another explained.

“They are leasing the two aircraft – Kraft no longer fully owns the aircraft and they are available for charter,” someone else said.

“Dodgers arrival on Patriots plane was not on my bingo card,” wrote another.

A team spokesperson told MassLive that the flight was a standard charter booked through a company hired by the Patriots. The publication also noted the Patriots' history of chartering and loaning out their aircraft for various purposes. For example, in 2022, the plane was loaned to University of Virginia players so the team could travel to the funerals of teammates killed in a mass shooting. In 2020, the aircraft was used to deliver millions of face masks from China to the US during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown.

The Dodgers will have a rest day at home as they prepare for two big celebrations on Friday.

The championship parade begins at 11 a.m. PT at Gloria Molina Grand Park on Spring Street in front of Los Angeles City Hall.
