The cold front is bringing fall air to southeast Texas today!

Some will have temperatures in the high 40s on Thursday morning, the coldest morning since early April!

Forecast for Wednesday:

HOUSTON – Highs will fall into the 70s on Wednesday and Thursday. The humidity will be low so it will be sunny and give a fantastic autumn feel. Houston will be in the upper 40s Thursday morning. This is the coolest temperature in 192 days (April 4th was our last 40 degree day).

On the trail of the tropics:

In the tropics we observe two systems. Neither poses a threat to Texas. The yellow region will bring rain to Central America, but will be blocked from coming here by our front. The orange region could impact Puerto Rico, but would then turn north into the Atlantic (not near the Gulf Coast).

The tropical season lasts through November, but here in Southeast Texas we will no longer see any tropical systems after our first fronts arrive. As cold fronts strengthen, most tropical systems that form will be prevented from entering the Gulf of Mexico and may impact Mexico or the East Coast.

10 day forecast:

Our big fall front arrives Tuesday evening! This will take us from highs in the 90s to highs in the 70s. The weekend looks great in autumn.
