In light of the New York Liberty's big WNBA victory, Mayor Eric Adams has called for a celebration. Tonight, City Hall, Staten Island Borough Hall and several other buildings in New York City will be lit in sea foam green to represent the monumental victory.

“At a time when the rest of the country is finally recognizing the endless talent in our WNBA, we are proud to see New York City bring home the trophy. Thank you to our WNBA champions for being a role model for our city and demonstrating the values of courage, determination and hard work. Now we can’t wait to celebrate off the field and give you the parade through the Canyon of Heroes you deserve.”

Five seconds before the end of the 4th quarter, New York Liberty forward Breanna Stewart tied the game at 60-60 after a thrilling free throw. This led to the team going into an intense overtime period. The team won against the Minnesota Lynx with a final score of 67-62.
