Steelers fans are saying the same thing about Cris Collinsworth's dramatic takedown of Russell Wilson

Another game, another hate! After Cris Collinsworth was told to “mute” during the last Steelers vs. Cowboys game, Cris Collinsworth once again faced a backlash from NFL fans. And that's once again due to his well-hyped take on Russell-Wilson.

During the Steelers' game against the Jets in Week 7, commentator Cris Collinsworth praised quarterback Russell Wilson, who emerged as the starter after his injury episode. However, many people didn't like hyping him up in his first game. And so fans on social media seemed angry at Collinsworth.

So what happened was that Cris Collinsworth portrayed Wilson during Sunday night's game in a way that made it look like the quarterback was in great shape, similar to his time with the Seahawks. But in reality, Wilson still has a long way to go to prove himself again, especially after the upset in Denver.

Additionally, coach Mike Tomlin's decision to select him over QB2 Justin Fields after his 4-2 record also caused a stir on social media. Therefore, all this excitement has led to anger in the NFL community.

One X user wrote: “I'm almost sorry that Cris Collinsworth and Mike Tirico have to sell Aaron Rogers vs. Russell Wilson as a big matchup like it's 2014 and not 2024.” Another person also felt the same way when she wrote: “Cris Collinsworth believes Russell Wilson is still the Russ of 2017 and not the Russ of 2024.

In addition, there are comments like: “No matter how Cris Collinsworth tries to twist it, Russell Wilson is finished. It was a mistake by Tomlin that sent Fields to the bench with the score at 4-2. Fields has more potential than Wilson at this point,” And “I know Cris Collinsworth is a generational thinker, but this is a new low for him. Russell Wilson wasn't good for FIVE YEARS,“clearly shows that fans are unhappy with both Collinsworth's comments and Russell Wilson's performance.

The Steelers are currently behind the Jets with 7 points in the second quarter.
