South Jersey-based Spirit Halloween has responded to a Saturday Night Live skit that made fun of the spooky decorations and costume shop.

In the skit, which aired on September 29, SNL referenced a common meme in which Spirit Halloween takes over abandoned and closed stores to open their seasonal businesses. SNL's jokes about “wigs that cause rashes,” “disposable fog machines,” and “costumes of beloved characters adjusted just enough to avoid a lawsuit” may have hit a nerve.

Spirit Halloween hit back with one of their most popular memes, the joke costume.

In an apparent take on the weekly sketch show, Spirit Halloween posted the following on social media platform .

A similar joke costume from the store calls SNL an “irrelevant 50-year-old TV show” and adds a description that includes “outdated references, unknown cast members, declining ratings.”

While some may take this seriously, Spirit Halloween made it clear in a comment on his post that it's just in fun.
