The calendar has officially changed to November and begins the time of year with less daylightThanksgiving and Christmas on the mind and a new round of Social Security Payments for beneficiaries.

The Social Security Administration sends regular monthly payments (SSA benefits), but the date varies – generally depending on the day you were born. Social Security pension, disability and survivor recipients who filed claims after May 1, 1997 will be assigned on either the second, third or fourth Wednesday of the month.

Those receiving Supplemental Security Income (SSI), monthly payments for people with disabilities and older adults who have little or no income or resources, are paid on the 1st of the month.

If the 1st falls on the weekend, as was the case in Septemberthen the payment will be made on the Friday before January 1st. For those who received benefits before May 1997, a specific payment date also applies.

Here are the dates when beneficiaries can expect their monthly payments in November.

  • SSA beneficiaries who began receiving benefits before May 1997: November 1
  • Birthday between the 1st and 10th of the month: November 13th (second Wednesday of the month)

Meanwhile, those who receive SSI will receive an additional check in November due to the nature of the payment plan.

As noted, the Social Security Administration typically sends SSI payments on the 1st of the month. However, if the date falls on a weekend or a holiday – as is the case on Sunday, December 1st – the administration will pay early.

In this case, SSI recipients will receive their December payment on Friday, November 29th.

How to Report a Missing Social Security Payment

Those who don't receive their electronic payment on the scheduled date should first contact their bank or financial institution, according to the Social Security Administration – which says there “may be a delay in the delivery of your payment.”

Anyone who still needs to report a late, missing or stolen Social Security payment should call the Social Security Administration at 1-800-772-1213 (TTY 1-800-325-0778) or contact your local Social Security office.

“We will review the case and when the payment is due, we will replace it,” the administration said says on its website.
