Employees reported damage to windows at the U.S. Postal Service on Barnette Street to Fairbanks police around 6:30 a.m. Monday.

The Cole Building had a single hole in the door and the Arctic Traveler's Gift Shop had a single hole in a window.

The Fairbanks Children's Museum had six holes from an unknown projectile in a window facing Cushman Street. Builder Shawn Evans said replacing the window could cost more than $4,000.

Seth Church found four broken windows in his building on Barnette Street over the weekend. The companies behind the broken windows were Ringstad Law Office, a personal injury law firm, and Pacific Rim Counseling.

Church said replacing the windows could cost between $15,000 and $20,000. No one was in the building over the weekend and no one was injured.

The second floor of the building houses the Republican campaign headquarters inside. Church said he originally believed the incident was politically motivated, but when he learned that other buildings had been destroyed, he said it did not appear the vandalism was politically motivated.

Fairbanks Police Chief Ron Dupee said, “I recognize how divisive politics can be and I urge Fairbanks residents to remember that we are all part of this community and must remain united despite our differences. “ I strongly condemn any form of political violence or vandalism – these actions violate the principles we seek to uphold. FPD will do its best to hold individuals who commit such acts accountable. We don’t want that kind of nonsense in our community.”

One person reported that 511 Second Ave., which previously housed Bad Mother Vintage, experienced damage to the exterior window panes Sunday evening. Vandalism to a car on East Cowles Street was also reported Monday afternoon.

Soapy Smith's Pioneer Restaurant also had window damage, but the News-Miner could not confirm whether it was new damage.
