Mario Balotelli made his Genoa debut in a cameo at the end of his new side's 1-0 away win over Parma in Serie A on Monday night, as Alberto Gilardino's side claimed only their second league win of the 2024/25 season.

Andrea Pinamonti scored the only goal of the game after 80 minutes. He was there to save the rebound after Zion Suzki parried Jeff Ekhator's powerful shot back into the danger zone.

Genoa were the clearly superior team in the attacking third and had seven shots on goal, while Parma kept a clean sheet.

There was also a debut for Balotelli in the colors of Genoa. The former Italy international joined the Grifone as a free agent exactly a week ago, but was not present in the 1-0 defeat against Fiorentina on Thursday. He came on as a substitute for Ekhator in the 85th minute.

The win for Genoa lifted them out of the Serie A relegation zone to 17th place, where they sit ahead of Monza, Venezia and Lecce with nine points from 11 games.

Parma remains in 15th place and has the same number of points as Genoa, although with a goal difference of -3 compared to Genoa's -13.
