The Southeastern Conference was able to avoid drastic surprises for the first time in several weeks.

With perhaps one notable exception, which is set in College Station, Texas.

The conference's main game of the week between No. 8 LSU and No. 14 Texas A&M did not disappoint: The Aggies outscored the Tigers 31-6 in the second half and cruised to a 38-23 victory. Mike Elko and Co. trailed LSU 17-7 at halftime but, spurred on by backup quarterback Marcel Reed, scored five straight drives in the second half, including four that ended in touchdowns.

Elsewhere, No. 25 Vanderbilt nearly did the unthinkable again, falling 27-24 to No. 6 Texas in a game that may have hinged on a failed onside kick attempt.

Kalen DeBoer led – Alabama quieted some of the outside noise Saturday as the 15th-ranked Crimson Tide got back on track against Missouri. In their first meeting as SEC opponents, No. 18 Ole Miss defended its home opener and defeated Oklahoma by a score of 26-14.
