Sarfaraz Khan gave a fiery farewell to Rachin Ravindra on the first day of the third Test match between India and New Zealand in Mumbai on Friday. Rachin was one of the top players with the bat for New Zealand and he was one of the main reasons why the visitors won both Tests in the series. During the first session of Day 1, Rachin was caught off guard by a throw from Washington Sundar that bounced against his stumps. Sarfaraz, who played in the silly point position, celebrated wildly after the dismissal and even mocked Ravindra before the batsman went back to the dressing room.

Washington Sundar drifted the ball around the wicket to the left corner. The ball spun around and turned just enough to hit the outside edge of Ravindra's forward defense and cut off the off-stump. After being sent off, Rachin Ravindra was completely shocked as Sarfaraz Khan was seen taunting him from the standing position. It was a great ball from Sundar who got the big wicket of Ravindra for the third time in the series.

Spinner Washington Sundar shone again, picking up two wickets as New Zealand ended the first session of the third Test against India at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai with three wickets lost.

At the end of the first session New Zealand were 92/3 with Will Young (38*) and Daryl Mitchell (11*) unbeaten.

Electing to bat first, New Zealand got off to a poor start as pacer Akash trapped deep Devon Conway leg before wicket for four runs in 11 balls. New Zealand were 15/1 in 3.2 overs.

Skipper Tom Latham and Will Young brought the Kiwis forward. A fine sweep from Latham off Washington Sundar helped the Kiwis reach the 50-run mark in 13.4 overs.

The partnership between Latham and Young ended with Sundar removing Latham's off-stump for 28 in 44 balls and three fours. New Zealand were 59/2 in 16 overs.

Rachin Ravindra's off-stump suffered defeat as Sundar got his second wicket, dismissing the in-form batsman for just five runs. New Zealand were 72/3 in 20 overs.

Young was supported by Daryl Mitchell and they led New Zealand through the rest of the session without losing any wickets.

New Zealand captain Tom Latham won the toss and elected to bat first in the third and final Test of the series against India on Friday.

India will look to salvage their pride when they take on the Kiwis at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. With the hosts trailing 2-0 in the three-match series and suffering their first home Test series defeat in 12 years, they will be looking to play at their best to avoid an embarrassing whitewash.

Latham also said Mitchell Santner will miss the game due to a side strain, while Matt Henry will step in for Tim Southee.

Mohammed Siraj comes on for India for the ill Jasprit Bumrah.
