Robert Griffin III blasts critics of Steelers QB Russell Wilson

Humble Pie is served! Many NFL fans and media personalities are eating their words today after Russell Wilson helped lead the Pittsburgh Steelers to a convincing 37-15 victory over the New York Jets on Sunday Night Football.

In the days leading up to Wilson's expected Steelers debut, Mike Tomlin's decision to trade from Justin Fields to Wilson was met with more criticism than support. Controversial media personality Robert Griffin III blasted those critics in a tweet after the game.

I'm so happy for Russell Wilson. So many analysts have betrayed him. I mean openly and unprofessionally protesting his success in Pittsburgh.

He creates false narratives about him, questions his Blackness as if one version of Black is better than another, and attacks his leadership.

When all he did was be himself and act like a professional. It was disturbing to watch. This isn't because Justin Fields is better right now.

Russell led the Steelers to a dominant win over the Jets in just his first appearance of the season. He was more efficient, moved the ball better, led to the most points all season and had a higher passing rate.

For some it is so much deeper than just performance. Is it his personality? Who is his wife? The fact that he's a great dad in a blended family?

Whatever it is, it's wrong, lame and I'm glad Mike Tomlin had the guts to say all the F and start the Super Bowl winning QB.

Even before Wilson was released by the Denver Broncos, his final years with the Seattle Seahawks and his two seasons in Denver were under scrutiny.

With his best days behind him, Wilson was often described as “exhausted,” and the injury on the first day of Steelers training camp only reinforced that perception.

Wilson will always have his critics. But 18 points scored (and a convincing team win) certainly helped convince Steelers fans to #teamwilson.

Now he has to move on.
