RIAA: Doja Cat Breaks Nicki Minaj's All-Time Gold Record / Ties Rap Queen for Most Platinum Hits Among Female Rappers

Just six months later Nicki Minaj took home the title for most platinum-certified hits among female rappers in the 72-year history of the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), she learnedSay it' co-star Doja cat fought his way back up next to her.

The RIAA released Cat's latest Hot 100 top 10 hits earlier this month – “Agora Hills' and the chart-topper 'Paint the town red' – have received their first certifications.

While “Hills” achieved 2x platinum status, “Red” doubled that status when it saw 4x platinum in color next to its name. For comparison, “Platinum” refers to the sales equivalent of 1 million units in the United States.

Furthermore, the mother album of tunes – “scarlet“ – was also certified platinum, making it their third consecutive studio attempt to reach the sales threshold after 2019.Hot pink' (2x Platinum) and 2021'Planet Her' (2x platinum).

Thanks to the certification upgrades of “Hills” and “Red,” Doja now has 25 individual gold plaques to her credit – one more than Minaj (the previous all-time female rapper champion).

Cat also now has 19 platinum singles, an achievement that ties her with Nicki's all-time record (also the highest among female rappers).

Combined, the certification upgrades of “Red” and “Hills” push Doja's career single sales in the United States to 51 million.

If you only look at the singles, she has now overtaken Nicki and is the second best female rapper behind her Cardi B (58 million).

Note: It's worth noting that the RIAA credits certifications only to featured artists, so certified songs that list Cat or Minaj as features will not be officially added to their career count.
