RFK Jr. wants to vacate “entire departments” in the FDA: “They have to go”

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. suggested that the second Trump administration could eliminate entire departments within the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) because of “corruption.”

The former independent presidential candidate spoke to MSNBC on Wednesday about President-elect Donald Trump's 2024 victory.

Kennedy, who has been a key figure in the Trump campaign since endorsing him, was asked about his potential role in the next White House and whether he would begin by “recruiting the top federal service executives currently employed at the FDA and the CDC.” “to be dismissed.” .”

“In some categories I would say,” Kennedy replied.

He continued: “In some categories, their entire departments, like the FDA's nutrition division, have to go. They're not doing their job. They are not protecting our children. Why do we have Froot Loops in this country?’ That has 18 or 19 ingredients, and when you go to Canada it has two or three?”

On the question of whether he would eliminate entire agencies like the FDA, Kennedy was less committed.

“I would not do the abolition of the agencies as long as it requires congressional approval,” Kennedy said.

He added: “But I can get corruption out of the authorities. I've been doing this for 40 years. I sued all of these authorities. I have a doctorate in corporate corruption and that's what I do.” If they're not corrupt, if Americans get good science and are allowed to make their own decisions, they'll be much healthier.

Kennedy posted the interview via his X account and reiterated his efforts to “root out corruption” in agencies like the FDA.

“President Trump has asked me to do three things: 1. Clean up corruption in our federal health departments. 2. Return these agencies to their rich tradition of evidence-based, gold standard science. 3. “Make America healthy again by ending the chronic disease epidemic,” Kennedy wrote.

Kennedy previously ran as an independent candidate before ultimately abandoning his campaign in August to support Trump. He has since campaigned on Trump's behalf and hinted at a possible role in the White House.

A few days before the election, he suggested that Trump would work to remove fluoride from drinking water.

“On January 20, the Trump White House will advise all U.S. water systems to remove fluoride from public water,” Kennedy wrote on X. “Fluoride is an industrial waste linked to arthritis, broken bones, bone cancer, IQ loss, neurodevelopmental disorders, and thyroid disease,” he claimed, adding that former President Trump and his first lady Melania Trump “want to make America healthy again.”
