Reports: Packers lucky with Jordan Love injury, others

While Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur didn't say much about his team's injuries during his press conference on Monday, and even expressed concern that his staff might leak information to the media, reports about the injuries continued to surface The Packers suffered in their Week 8 win against the Jacksonville Jaguars. In particular, reports have surfaced about the status of quarterback Jordan Love, running back Josh Jacobs, cornerback Jaire Alexander and safety Evan Williams, all of whom are starters on the team.

According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, Love's MRT confirmed Monday that he will be “day-to-day” this week and has a chance to play in what could be the deciding game of the NFC North race against the Detroit Lions. LaFleur said if Love can protect himself and is ready to play, he will play instead of resting his groin injury for a week before the bye. Pelissero's colleague Ian Rapoport added that Love's injury was a groin strain and not a tear.

Per Sports IllustratedBill Huber, Jacobs – who looked hampered in his final attack of the day against the Jaguars – will play against Detroit. According to his report, there are “no concerns regarding Jacobs’ availability for Sunday.”

ESPN's Rob Demovsky broke the news on Monday that Alexander had undergone an MRI to see if there was a problem with his knee, which appeared to be injured at the end of the game in Jacksonville. In an update from Demovsky, he stated that the MRI did not show any “significant concerns” for the team, but no decision on Alexander's status had been made this week. If Alexander doesn't play, Eric Stokes would be the next man up alongside Keisean Nixon – who left late in the game on Sunday.

Finally, CheeseheadTV's Aaron Nagler reported that the hamstring injury that caused Williams to miss against the Jaguars is not a long-term concern for the team. However, if Williams is unable to play against the Lions, that will likely move slot defenseman Javon Bullard back to a full-time safety position. At this point, it would be interesting to see if the team would put Nixon back in the role – a role he held at the start of this season and throughout the 2023 season – or if they look in a different direction.

Overall, Packers fans should be positive about these injury updates. Green Bay didn't just dodge a bullet, they went all in on Neo The Matrix and appears to have survived several projectiles.
