Rep. Harvey Epstein laughs at SNL skit about his name

New York Rep. Harvey Epstein said he was “completely surprised” by the “hilarious” Saturday Night Live sketch linking his name to notorious perverts Jeffrey Epstein and Harvey Weinstein.

Epstein, who represents Manhattan's East Side and is running for City Council in the Second District next year, said he was a regular SNL viewer and was watching the show on Saturday when his name came up in a parody of his campaign.

“It was a total surprise. “Imagine if you were watching SNL and there was a parody about you,” he told The Post on Sunday morning.

Epstein, 57, said he was unaware of the show because of the sketch.

There were jokes about his name's similarities to those of dead pedophile Jeffrey Epstein and Harvey Weinstein, the disgraced Hollywood producer and convicted sex offender. He said, “But not on national television!”

“Your name is your name. It is what it is. Both (Jeffrey Epstein and Harvey Weinstein) are terrible,” he said.

“I’m definitely living a different life and trying to do good in the world.”

But Epstein found the skit hilarious and even noted how actor John Mulaney was wearing earrings and how he had a clean-shaven head.

“John Mulaney was funny. It was a funny parody. It was ironic and sarcastic – the sketch hit all the right points,” he said.

In the mock campaign, the fake Epstein says, “Look, my name is ideal, of course not.” Do you think I don’t know that?”

Mulaney's Harvey Epstein even releases posters with mugshots of Harvey Weinstein and Jeffrey Epstein that read “NOT ME” and “DIFFERENT GUY,” respectively.

“As Epstein, I give you my word,” he says in the sketch.

The real Epstein said he hoped the national exposure would spark a positive response to his campaign for council.

“I hope people know that I am a great candidate for City Council. It gives me some visibility for the race,” he said.
