Red Flag Warning for Western Massachusetts

Red Flag Warning for Western Massachusetts

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – A Red flag warning is in effect on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. for all of Western Massachusetts due to the possibility of wildfires that could spread quickly due to dry and windy conditions.

Fall foliage report from the last weekend of October in Massachusetts

A Red Flag Warning is the highest warning level issued by the National Weather Service and is issued when dry conditions meet high wind speeds. This means that critical fire weather conditions occur and any fires that develop can spread quickly and are difficult to extinguish.

Dry weather and gusty winds may result in potentially critical fire weather conditions. Saturday will see a mix of sun and clouds with highs in the lower 60s. It will be windy and skies will be partly cloudy Saturday evening, with lows reaching 30 degrees.
