Rainy Election Day in Minnesota; It is drier from Wednesday to Friday

Bring rain gear if you go to vote this Election Day. A low pressure system will spread rain from south to north across Minnesota on Tuesday.

Rainfall will occur early this morning in southern Minnesota along the Interstate 90 corridor. It will move north into the Twin Cities around 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Tuesday, reaching Duluth around noon.

In the map below, I like how the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's NAM 3km model handles the precipitation shield as it works northward on Tuesday. In the west and north it could be cold enough for a few wet snowflakes.

NOAA forecasts still call for warmer than normal temperatures through November. It won't get back into the 70s anytime soon, but currently the forecast maps don't show any major cold snaps over the next seven to 10 days.
