Predicted Inter Miami vs. Toronto FC lineup: MLS

Predicted Inter Miami vs. Toronto FC lineup: MLS

Inter Miami's road trip continues as they play their final away game of the regular season against Toronto FC at BMO Field.

The Herons are on a roll after their 3-2 win over current MLS Cup champions Columbus Crew. Lionel Messi scored a brace in the first half that put Miami in the driver's seat. Late in the game, the Crew made life difficult, forcing Miami to hunker down and defend valiantly as goalkeeper Drake Callender saved a huge penalty.

Miami's big four – Messi, Luis Suárez, Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets – all started on Wednesday night and played the full 90 minutes. Toronto is still in the playoffs, but doesn't have the same quality as Columbus.

Miami coach Gerardo “Tata” Martino switched from his usual 4-2-3-1 to a 3-4-3 formation as the Herons played with a more defensive formation away from home. With Miami back on the road, Martino could look to use the same formation that earned him three points against the Crew.

The South Florida team claimed its second trophy in club history, the Supporters' Shield, after defeating Columbus, meaning Martino could look to rotate against an inferior team – or come on strong, with Miami just two wins away from doing so is to make MLS history.

GK: Drake Calleder– The USMNT reserve goalkeeper made one of the biggest saves of his career to prevent Cucho Hernández from scoring a second goal from the penalty spot and secure his team the Supporters' Shield title.

CB: Tomas Aviles– The young Argentine returns to the defensive line after missing the game against Columbus due to an accumulation of yellow cards.

CB: Sergio Busquets—Busquets will once again lead the defensive line, often moving into midfield to stimulate attacking moves.

CB: Serhiy Kryvtsov– Martino could look to give the veteran center back some valuable minutes to keep him fit before the postseason if his number is announced.

RWB: Marcelo Weigandt—Weigandt retains his place in the team.

CM: David Ruiz– The Honduran international moves into midfield as Federico Redondo is suspended for accumulating yellow cards.

CM: Yannick Bright—The rookie midfielder is getting better and better with each game.

LWB: Jordi Alba—Alba looks to add his 13th assist of the regular season to lead Miami to three points.

RW: Lionel Messi– Martino is strong and starts the 37-year-old, who is now firmly in the running for Landon Donovan's MVP with 17 goals in 17 league appearances.

ST: Luis Suarez—The Uruguayan continues his Golden Boot winning streak as his 18 goals are just four shy of Christian Benteke's 22.

Left: Diego Gomez—The Paraguay international continues to build up his fitness and has more minutes left in the tank ahead of the playoffs.
