Pittsburgh Steelers DL on fire against Giants OT after TJ Watt's bold comment backfires

Before the Pittsburgh Steelers played the New York Giants on Monday, Giants right tackle Jermaine Eluemunor told star pass rusher TJ Watt that he wanted to play one-on-one with him. Eluemunor said he wanted to be on an island with Watt and show what he could do.

“I’m the most confident guy in this locker room,” Eluemunor said. “I think you can see that in my play this year. I want to be on an island with him all day.”

On a crucial play in the game, Eluemunor got his wish. Watt got rid of Daniel Jones and forced a massive turnover that shifted the momentum of the game back toward the Steelers. Injured Steelers player DeMarvin Leal posted about the comments on X and lit Eluemunor on fire.

“I thought the fat buddy didn’t need any help,” Leal said. “When your team needed you most, you ate your words.”

Leal torched Eluemunor for these comments. Watt also saw these comments before the game, but never needed the motivation to get up for a game.

“Of course,” Watt said. “I mean, I have a lot of respect for every single player in the NFL. Everyone works hard and I try to take advantage of my opportunities when I get them and make the most of them when they come.”

That comment backfired on Eluemunor, as Watt finished the game with two sacks, helping the Steelers to their sixth win.
