Orioles-Yankees game thread from Wednesday night

Orioles-Yankees game thread from Wednesday night

The Orioles' magic number for the first Wild Card spot is two. Baltimore can extend its quest for the AL East crown by at least one more game by picking up another win over the Yankees.

Baltimore clinched a postseason berth with a win last night. The team celebrated the milestone while acknowledging the hardships of the second half. Tonight we'll see if the postseason celebrations have any lingering effects.

Gunnar Henderson and Jordan Westburg will open the game and form the double-play combination. Anthony Santander, Colton Cwser and Cedric Mullins will man the outfield, while Ramón Urías and Ryan Mountcastle will man the corners. Ryan O'Hearn will be the DH and James McCann will catch starter Zach Eflin.

The O's will face Marcus Stroman tonight in New York. The Yankees placed Nestor Cortes on the 15-day IL with a strained left elbow flexor.

The Orioles announced today that Grayson Rodriguez will not pitch again this season.

Baltimore could easily face the Yankees at some point in the postseason, and the Birds will look to set the tone with another win tonight.
