Oregon Football vs. Purdue: Predictions, Odds

What is being said and predicted across the country about the Ducks' upcoming game against the Boilermakers? Not much.

Needless to say, No. 2 Oregon-Purdue's one-win game on a Friday night in mid-October doesn't really make much difference to the college football crowd.

But Duck fans should hope that wasn't the case in the Oregon locker room this week.

The Boilermakers may not be good, but they can still be dangerous. History shows that.

Purdue has seven wins against ranked opponents over the past six seasons, including three against teams ranked in the top three – No. 2 Ohio State in 2018, No. 2 Iowa in 2021 and No. 3 Michigan State in 2018 2021.

Friday's game at 5 p.m. will be broadcast on FOX.

At BetMGM, the Ducks are the favorites (as of Thursday) with 28.5 points. Oregon is -10,000 on the money line while Purdue is +1,800. The over/under (overall score) is set at 60.5.

According to ESPN Analytics' matchup forecast, Oregon has a 95 percent chance of beating Purdue.

Prediction: Ducks win by 28 points

“I've been thinking about this game since the summer and here's why. You know Oregon is going to be a big favorite, and they are…and yet, what do we keep seeing in college football? The teams are doing worse this week.” We'll sleepwalk a little after their most emotional win. This is nothing against Dan Lanning or any of the other players. It's just human nature. After the emotional one-point home win over Ohio State in this environment, now you have to play against a Purdue team that keeps getting better, which no one in the locker room has at all thinking about how bad they were at the beginning of the season and that you have to play away on a Friday night… 27.5 is too much… It's a trap game and I've been circling this game since the summer.”

Pick: Oregon wins, 42-28

“This game scares me because I’m actually going to score with Oregon. They're on the road in just under a week, Purdue put together a performance where they pushed Illinois to the rim and tried for the two-point conversion and came up just short.” . But I also think they've shown their hand with Ryan Browne running the football, and I think Oregon's ability to keep that at bay has suddenly catapulted itself into second place in the Heisman Trophy conversation. Maybe it comes into play for (offensive coordinator) Will Stein to keep him in the game a little bit longer to get him a little more stats, and if that's the case, I think Oregon gets the 27.5 points pick up.”

“This has nothing to do with time zones, it has to do with something that goes back through multiple coaches and multiple generations, and these are the top five teams playing Purdue in West Lafayette. I'm not calling now.” All I'm saying is that the immediate upset (27.5) is a heck of a lot of points for a short week after a huge win against the Purdue team that I think came with that quarterback run game maybe could shorten We saw Oregon get up early and take on Michigan State. This is a team that likes to do their business and then maybe come out of the game as healthy as possible and there's no shame in that. They're clearly one of the best teams in the country, just 27.5 is a lot of points when you “Consider the short week, the hangover and once again the juju of the Spoilermakers.”
