NFL fan goes viral for throwing ball back onto field – leaving his wife angry

  • The moment occurred during the Eagles' 28-23 win over the Jaguars

An NFL fan left his wife in disbelief Sunday when he caught a game ball — before promptly shooting it back onto the field.

The Eagles were taking on the Jaguars when Philly quarterback Jalen Hurts threw a pass into the stands, where a fan caught it himself just behind the end zone.

His wife's momentary excitement quickly turned to disappointment as the man used his second shot in the spotlight to launch the ball onto the turf.

The couple's wife and daughter held out their hands in confusion as they asked the man why he got rid of the ball.

The moment was clipped and posted by the Pardon My Takes X account and has been viewed four million times on the platform at the time of writing.

However, even if the man had decided he wanted to keep the ball, it is unclear whether he would have been able to do so.

NFL fans are typically expected to return game balls — one incident in 2022 even resulted in another Eagles fan being allegedly assaulted and falsely arrested by MetLife Stadium security and New Jersey State Police.

In this case, Hurts presented a touchdown ball to fan Paul Hamilton after the goal.

However, according to a lawsuit later filed by Hamilton and viewed by NorthJersey.com, Hamilton was told the ball had to be returned.

He refused to do so when officials allegedly refused to specify which rule required him to give up the ball.

Hamilton was reportedly later arrested by officers as he attempted to leave the stadium, “forcibly restrained” and even threatened with legal action before he was finally allowed to leave the stadium with the ball.
