Many NFL preseason games are broadcast on local channels. So if you want to watch a game in the market, all you need to do is turn on your TV (or set up a digital TV antenna) or find a live TV streaming service that carries the correct RSN (Regional Sports Network). If you want to watch out-of-market games, a $5 monthly subscription to NFL+ lets you watch all of the out-of-market local and primetime games of the season (and preseason) on your phone – but just some few games on your TV. You could also opt for the overpriced NFL Sunday ticket package to see every out-of-stock Sunday game of the season.

When it comes to nationally televised games, NFL games are typically broadcast on ESPN, NBC, CBS, Fox, ABC and NFL Network. Thursday Night Football games will be streamed exclusively on Amazon Prime Video, and select football games will be streamed exclusively on Peacock, games on CBS will stream live on Paramount+ with SHOWTIME this season and select games will stream on ESPN+ this season. That's six channels and four streaming platforms to keep up with this season – and that doesn't include your local RSNs for in-market games and an NFL+ or NFL Sunday Ticket subscription for in-market games. Additionally, Netflix is currently negotiating to become the exclusive place to watch the NFL's Christmas games this year.

Overwhelmed? You're not alone. Here's a breakdown of the platforms we recommend ahead of the 2024 NFL season, so you can watch your favorite team's games as the game begins as easily as turning on the TV….

(Fubo)

With Fubo TV you have access to ESPN, NFL Network, Fox, ABC, CBS, NBC and over 100 other live channels. Starting at $80/month, the live TV streaming service is definitely expensive (but certainly not the most expensive option on this list), but offers almost every channel you need to watch both the NFL preseason and regular season watch, and still be up to you with significant savings compared to a traditional cable package. Fubo subscribers also get 1000 hours of cloud DVR storage.

The platform also offers a free trial period, so you can try out some games risk-free. And now you can also get $20 off your first month of any Fubo tier after your free trial ends!

Advantages

  • Free trial of full package available
  • 1000 hours of cloud DVR storage

(YouTube)

YouTube TV gives you almost all the channels you need for the 2024 NFL season, including Fox, NBC, ABC, CBS, ESPN, and NFL Network. Plus, YouTube TV is home to NFL Sunday Ticket this season! The Sunday Ticket package, while expensive in itself ($479.99/season), gives you ALL of the Sunday games that are not on the market (160+ games per season).

If you bundle Sunday Ticket with YouTube TV, you can purchase both for four months for $146.49/month (that's $586 for the season). Now you'll need to continue paying for YouTube TV to retain access to the NFL Sunday Ticket package. Currently, you can get your first three months of YouTube TV for $52.99/month for the first four months. The cost then increases to $72.99/month.

Another plus point of this option is that YouTube gives you a maximum of four months with the “YouTube TV + NFL Sunday Ticket” package.

Note that YouTube TV live streams tend to run with a slight lag, which isn't great if you're trying to watch the live game down to the second.

Advantages

  • Offers an NFL Sunday ticket package
  • Offers almost every channel you need for NFL games
Disadvantages

  • Cost
  • If you bundle the Sunday ticket, you'll be there all year round

Channel Master

Wait, a flat TV antenna? Aren't these things supposed to have long, telescoping metal poles (aka bunny ears)? No, this new design (which you'll see on tons of other brands) works just as well and is not intended to sit on your TV. Instead, mount it to a wall or window using the included adhesive pads with either the black or white side facing inward to better fit your decor.

The aptly named Flatenna is truly flat as a piece of paper. You simply screw one end of the 12-foot cable into the bottom and the other end into your TV's coax input. (Yes, that means you have an ugly cable running down your wall; consider a conduit kit like this one to hide it.)

Channel Master promises a range of up to 35 miles, but of course this depends on various factors. As mentioned above, optimal placement – as high as possible and free of obstacles – makes the crucial difference.

The big news here is the price: At just $29, the Flatenna is quite affordable and a good place to start your antenna journey—assuming you're okay with a black or white rectangle on your wall or window.

$29 on Amazon

To recap, here are all the ways you can watch NFL games in 2024.

  • Watch NFL games on local channels like Fox, CBS and NBC

Channel Master Flatenna Ultra-thin indoor TV antenna

  • Watch ESPN, ESPN+, Fox, ABC, NBC, CBS, NFL Network
