New superstar WR moves to the Pittsburgh Steelers

New superstar WR moves to the Pittsburgh Steelers

According to Vincent Bonsingnore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the Las Vegas Raiders have begun inquiring with teams about a possible trade for superstar wide receiver Davante Adams. Adams and the Raiders were still walking on eggshells throughout the offseason.

Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce liked an Instagram post that Adams may have played his last game in a Raiders jersey and could be traded. Adams suffered a hamstring injury during practice on Thursday and missed Sunday's game against the Cleveland Browns.

Trading Adams would be extremely affordable for any team that acquires him for the remainder of this season. Adams has huge base salaries in 2025 and 2026, totaling over $35 million per year, meaning trading Adams isn't a long-term proposition for most teams unless Adams and the team rework the deal.

Instead, Adams would likely be cut. So whatever the Raiders would acquire for Adams probably wouldn't be much. In fact, it won't be anywhere close to the numbers that the Brandon Aiyuk transfer would have cost the Steelers. So if they want to make this deal, it will be far more affordable in the long term and short term cost of a draft pick. If the Steelers were to acquire Adams, they would have to restructure someone to get Adams under the salary cap.
