NBA admits big missed decision in Warriors-Celtics game

The Golden State Warriors pulled off a very impressive win over the Boston Celtics on Wednesday night. While the defending champions were without reigning Finals MVP Jaylen Brown, they still had Jayson Tatum and several other very talented players from their deep roster.

Golden State was led by Steph Curry, who scored a season-high 27 points in the win. Andrew Wiggins and Buddy Hield each scored 16 points, while Lindy Waters III and Jonathan Kuminga each scored in double figures off the bench.

The Warriors once again showed their strength and won this game with a collective effort from all sides of their squad.

Because this game came down to the last second, the NBA released a last-two-minute report detailing several calls and non-calls in the final two minutes. While the Last Two Minute Report was mostly clean, it did contain one major missed call.

According to the NBA, Warriors center Kevon Looney should have been cited for a shooting foul against Jayson Tatum with 1:09 left in the game.

“Looney (GSW) steps backwards and onto Tatum’s (BOS) foot, initiating contact that impacts his jumping motion,” the NBA wrote.

Tatum was very unhappy with the no-call and slapped the nearest referee's hands as he ran back to the field. Had the decision been correct, Tatum would have gone to the free throw line for two shots and his team would have trailed 108-104.

Instead, the Warriors secured a rebound, which led to Buddy Hield's dagger three-pointer on the other end.

There's no telling whether Tatum's free throws with 1:08 left would have changed the outcome of the game, but it was undoubtedly a big mistake by the referees.
