Mookie Betts mocks Yankees legend after World Series Game 2 victory

Mookie Betts saw his chance to tackle Derek Jeter after the Los Angeles Dodgers' victory over the New York Yankees in Game 2 of the World Series.

After the win, which gave the Dodgers a 2-0 lead, Betts walked across the FOX broadcast table and hugged former Boston Red Sox teammate David Ortiz. He looked at Jeter and hugged him back before taking a shot at the legendary Yankees shortstop.

“I know you don’t like us right now, but I love you too,” Betts said.

Beating the Yankees is nothing new for Betts, as he spent the first six seasons of his Major League Baseball career with the Red Sox. According to Statmuse, the 2018 MVP also had success against New York, posting a .281 batting average with 114 hits, 16 home runs, 62 RBI and 68 runs scored.

Based on his performance against the Yankees, they elected to walk the outfielder in Game 1, with New York clinging to a one-run lead in the bottom of the 10th inning. Betts went hitless in his three plate appearances so far in the game, but Nestor Cortes gave up a walk-off grand slam to Freddie Freeman.

Now the World Series shifts to New York for Games 3, 4 and – if necessary – 5 as the Yankees look to get back into the series.
